The Allotment has been going for 8 years now, with produce grown to give to the local Food Bank and shared amongst the volunteers. We are really looking for some new Volunteers for 2021. The plot is in prime condition, with a lot of work over the last few years now paying off, making it a lot easier to maintain. We have a Poly Tunnel for growing from seeds and also plants such as; tomatoes, lettuce and cucumbers. The plot has 20 raised beds for growing various vegetables, soft fruit and we also have a few apple and plum trees. We have won prizes over the last 4 years for our plot, awarded by the Town Council.
The Computer Club is run by two of our Volunteers, who train people on how to use a computer from basics skills to more advanced. We use a programme called ‘Learn My Way’, as we are a Centre for their training programme. We have taught many people how to use a computer over the last 5/6 years. We provide the computers to train with, you just need to make an appointment and be willing to have a go, especially if a computer is alien to you.
The club runs on a Thursday 10am – 12pm, all are welcome.
Job Club runs on a Thursday 10am – 12pm. It helps people who are trying to gain employment. We assist people with putting CV’s together, job searching and advice on interviewing skills and getting back into the work place. The sessions are by appointment only, due to Covid-19 and are approved by the Job Centre.
We are up-cycling furniture, particularly wooden furniture. We are also making some new items too. We have a lathe, a band saw, a table saw and several hand tools. We are looking for furniture that we can work on to renovate and hopefully sell, to raise some funds for the Charity. Please contact us if you would like to donate any old furniture.
